  • We offer a range of solutions designed to meet your needs—whether you're just getting started or scaling something bigger. Please see the services tab for more information.

  • We proudly serve the Nanaimo and surrounding communities, including Parksville and Ladysmith.

  • Yes. Pacific Ridge is fully licensed, bonded, and insured in the Province of British Columbia. We carry comprehensive liability insurance and worker's compensation, providing you with complete peace of mind throughout every project.

Lawn & Garden Maintenance

  • Yes. We partner with property managers and HOAs to provide proactive, reliable care. This includes everything from seasonal clean-ups and lawn maintenance to irrigation management.

  • For a healthy, lush lawn, we recommend weekly mowing during the peak growing season. Our fertilization plans are customized to the season, ensuring your grass gets the specific nutrients it needs in the spring vs. the fall.

  • We offer both! While we handle one-time services (like initial cleanup or fence installation), our primary focus is on custom-designed recurring maintenance plans for both residential lawns and commercial grounds. These packages ensure consistent care and budget predictability throughout the year.

  • Sea Soil is a premium organic amendment made from fish and forest fines. We use it in our garden bed services because it’s rich in nutrients, improves soil structure, and helps plants thrive much better than standard topsoil.

Irrigation & Drainage

  • Yes. We specialize in drainage solutions, including French drains, catch basins, and regrading. We focus on diverting water away from your foundation to protect your home.

  • To prevent frozen pipes and expensive repairs, we recommend professional "blowouts" in late October or early November. We also offer spring start-up services to recalibrate your system for the growing season.

  • We recommend upgrading to a smart, weather-based irrigation controller and converting water-wasteful spray zones to drip irrigation. These systems automatically adjust watering based on real-time weather, preventing over-watering and significantly cutting utility costs.

  • The price of installing a new irrigation system varies depending on yard size, system type, soil conditions, and complexity of zones and controls; for a typical mid-sized residential property in the Nanaimo area you can expect a basic underground sprinkler system with a timer and 3–6 zones to start around $3,000–$5,500, while larger properties, drip irrigation for planting beds, smart controllers, or systems with multiple water sources and complex grading can push costs to $6,000–$12,000 or more; additional factors that affect price include permits, trenching through rock or roots, backflow prevention devices, seasonal winterization, and the quality of materials (valves, heads, piping), so we recommend an on-site assessment to provide an accurate, itemized estimate tailored to your landscape and water-efficiency goals.

Projects

  • Occasionally. For structural projects like retaining walls over a certain height or large patios, permits are often required by City of Nanaimo and The R.D.N. Smaller projects will not require permits.

  • The timeline depends heavily on the scope and complexity. A typical design phase can take 2-4 weeks, followed by a construction phase ranging from 1 week (for simple lawn maintenance setup) to 4-8 weeks (for complex hardscaping and planting projects). We provide a detailed schedule with your initial proposal.

  • The optimal time is generally the early spring or early fall. These seasons offer milder temperatures and reliable rainfall, which reduces stress on new plants, promoting better root establishment and long-term health. However, we install sod and non-sensitive hardscaping year-round.

  • We specialize in both functional and aesthetic walls, including structural rock or block walls for erosion control and leveling, as well as custom wood retaining walls for a more natural, rustic look.

  • If you already have a plan, we’re happy to build it! If not, our team can work with you to design a space that balances beauty with functionality, ensuring the right plants and materials are chosen for the Nanaimo climate.
